REGISTRATION POLICIES

Most large corporate races do not allow refunds, with good reason. When you register for a race, the organizers incur heavy costs on your behalf ahead of time by purchasing your medals, shirts, swag bags, nutrition, and many other race day supplies. If you elect not to race, those goods go to waste. This is why we highly recommend race insurance (explained in option 4 at the bottom). First Knight Racing does not offer refunds for the Peasantman Triathlon either, but unlike many corporate races we do have a limited policy for athletes suffering from injury or other hardships to allow either 1) DEFERRAL until the next year, 2) SWITCH to an equal or shorter race, or 3) PURCHASE RACE INSURANCE using the optional Registration Protection Insurance.

There are limits to each of these, however, and we do not allow any exceptions, so please read the following details. Emailing us your request instead of following these instructions does not constitute adherence to the policy. Note that we will not respond to inquiries about these options after the cutoff dates listed, as it is the busiest time of year for our staff and we wouldn’t have time for last minute requests.

OPTION 1 – DEFERRAL

Deferrals will allow you to postpone your race to the next year. Deferrals are only good for the next year and cannot be extended for multiple years. 

DEFERRAL FEE SCHEDULE AND LIMITS:

• Shorter races (Intermediate and Sprint Distances): $35 fee through June 15, $50 fee from June 16-August 1. 
• Longer races (Half Distances and longer): $50 fee through June 15, $80 fee from June 16-August 1. 
• Deferral fees (schedule above) are payable at the time of request.
• Deferrals are not allowed after August 1. 
• Deferrals are only good for the next year and cannot be extended for multiple years.
• Deferrals cannot be changed to a race of a different distance.
• Races cannot be transferred to another athlete.
• Complimentary or other $0 pay entries cannot be deferred.
• Relay team deferrals must be requested via email to register@score-this.com.

TO REQUEST A DEFERRAL:

Request the deferral through your Runsignup account or go to https://runsignup.com/Race/Register?raceId=80325&privateEventCode=defer, select the appropriate short or long race deferral to pay the deferral fee. Your deferral is not immediate but will be deferred before registration is finalized.

If you deferred last year, you should have received a code to re-register for this year.  If you did not receive a code, please contact register@score-this.com to have the code sent to you.
 

OPTION 2 - SWITCH TO AN EQUAL OR SHORTER RACE

If you are worried that your original intent to complete a longer race was overly optimistic when you registered, you may elect to switch to a race of equal or shorter distance. However there are no partial refunds for downsizing. The original purchase price stands. Race switches must be requested by end of day on August 12.
 

TO REQUEST A RACE SWITCH:

Participants may switch races through their Runsignup account or they can email register@score-this.com requesting the change.

*Note that Peasantman allows for a limited in-race 'downsize' for Aquabike races in some instances. If you are competing in the Half or Full individual triathlon and do not complete the run portion, you will be awarded an Aquabike finisher's medal, however you will not qualify for awards. Only those specifically registered for Aquabike events would qualify for awards. 

OPTION 3 – PURCHASE RACE INSURANCE

Participants have the option to purchase race insurance through RegShield. The registration protection option allows the race participants to be reimbursed up to 100% if they cannot attend the event for a number of reasons, including covered injury, illness, traffic accidents, or is required to work for a covered reason. This option is only available when registering and cannot be purchased after that. A separate email is sent from RegShield with policy information and requesting payment for the insurance. Note that First Knight Racing is not affiliated with the insurance company and cannot answer questions you may have related to your insurance.
