REFUND / DEFERRAL / RACE CHANGE POLICY

Most large corporate races do not allow refunds, with good reason. When you register for a race, the organizers incur heavy costs ahead of time by purchasing your medals, shirts, swag bags, nutrition, and many other race day supplies. If you elect not to race, those goods go to waste. This is why we highly recommend race insurance (explained at the bottom). First Knight Racing does not offer refunds for the Keuka Lake Triathlon either, but unlike many corporate races we do have a limited policy for athletes suffering from injury or other hardships to allow either: 1) DEFERRAL until the next year, 2) TRANSFER of your registration to another athlete, 3) SWITCH to a shorter event, or 4) PURCHASE RACE INSURANCE using the optional Registration Protection Insurance.

There are limits to each of these, however, and we do not allow any exceptions, so please read the following details. Please note that we will not respond to inquiries about these options after the cutoff dates listed.

OPTION 1 – DEFERRAL

• Deferrals will allow you to postpone your race to the next year.
• There will be a $35 fee for the deferral.
• Deferral fees are payable at the time of request
• Deferrals are not allowed after May 31.
• Deferrals are only good for the next year and cannot be extended for multiple years.
• Complimentary or other $0 pay entries cannot be deferred.
• Relay team deferrals must be requested via email to register@score-this.com.

To request a deferral:

You can request the deferral through your Runsignup account or go to https://runsignup.com/Race/Register?raceId=122301&privateEventCode=defer before May 31. Your deferral is not immediate but will be deferred before registration is finalized. 

OPTION 2 - TRANSFER TO ANOTHER ATHLETE 

Participants are able to transfer their entry to another participant up until end of day on May 25. Participants may do so through their Runsignup account or they can email register@score-this.com requesting the transfer and including the name and email of the person to transfer the entry to. The recipient will receive an email with a link allowing them to provide their registration information and to satisfy USAT membership requirements. One day memberships are not transferrable. The transfer is not final until this step is completed. Transfers must be completed by end of day on May 31.

OPTION 3 - SWITCH TO AN EQUAL OR SHORTER RACE

If you are worried that your original intent to complete a longer race was overly optimistic when you registered, you may elect to switch to a race of equal or shorter distance. However there are no partial refunds for downsizing. The original purchase price stands. Race switches must be requested by end of day on May 31.

OPTION 4 – PURCHASE RACE INSURANCE

Participants have the option to purchase race insurance through RegShield. The registration protection option allows the race participants to be reimbursed up to 100% if they cannot attend the event for a number of reasons, including covered injury, illness, traffic accidents, or is required to work for a covered reason. This option is only available when registering and cannot be purchased after that. A separate email is sent from RegShield with policy information and requesting payment for the insurance. Note that First Knight Racing and the Keuka Lake Triathlon are not affiliated with the insurance company and cannot answer questions you may have related to your insurance.
